Anxi Xiang Tie Guan Yin (安溪香铁观音)
Anxi Xiang Tie Guan Yin is a variety of Tie Guan Yin oolong tea from Anxi County, Fujian, China. The term “Xiang” (香) means fragrant, indicating that this tea has a stronger aroma compared to traditional roasted Tie Guan Yin. It is a lightly oxidized and lightly roasted tea, known for its refreshing floral fragrance and smooth taste.
Characteristics of Anxi Xiang Tie Guan Yin
- Appearance: Tightly rolled, jade-green tea leaves with a glossy surface.
- Aroma: Pronounced floral scent, often compared to orchids or osmanthus.
- Tea Liquor: Bright golden-green, clear, and luminous.
- Taste: Smooth, fresh, and slightly sweet with a lingering floral aftertaste.
- Mouthfeel: Light-bodied, silky, with a refreshing cooling sensation.
Brewing Instructions
Gongfu Style (Traditional Method for Best Flavor)
- Teaware: Use a gaiwan (100-150ml) or a small Yixing clay teapot.
- Tea Amount: 6-8g (about 1/3 of a gaiwan).
- Water Temperature: 90-95°C (194-203°F).
