Pu-erh Tea Collection (普洱茶系列)

Pu-erh tea (普洱茶) is a fermented and aged tea from Yunnan Province, China, known for its rich, smooth taste and deep complexity. Unlike other teas, Pu-erh undergoes a unique microbial fermentation process, allowing it to improve with age, much like fine wine.

There are two main types of Pu-erh:

  1. Raw Pu-erh (生普, Sheng Pu-erh) – Naturally aged over years, offering a bright, fresh, and slightly astringent taste that evolves into smooth, honeyed, and woody notes over time.
  2. Ripe Pu-erh (熟普, Shú Pu-erh) – Fermented using a controlled process for a dark, rich, and earthy flavor with notes of chocolate, dried fruit, and wood.

Types of Pu-erh Tea

  • Loose Leaf Pu-erh (散茶普洱) – Offers quick aging and strong infusion.
  • Pu-erh Tea Cakes (饼茶) – Compressed into round cakes (bing cha), traditionally aged for deeper, evolving flavors.
  • Pu-erh Bricks (砖茶) – Compressed into rectangular shapes, convenient for long-term storage and aging.
  • Tuocha (沱茶) – Small, bowl-shaped compressed Pu-erh, perfect for single servings.
  • Xiao Qing Gan Pu-erh (小青柑普洱) – Ripe Pu-erh stuffed into green tangerines, creating a citrusy, sweet, and earthy infusion.

Flavor Profile

  • Raw Pu-erh: Floral, fresh, grassy in youth, developing into smooth, honeyed, and woody notes with age.
  • Ripe Pu-erh: Smooth, earthy, and full-bodied, with hints of chocolate, dates, and caramel.
  • Liquor: Golden yellow (Raw Pu-erh) to deep red-brown (Ripe Pu-erh).

Perfect For

Pu-erh is ideal for digestion, relaxation, and collectors who appreciate teas that evolve over time. It pairs well with rich foods, dim sum, and desserts.
